First Day in Canada

Well, unfortunately, today was not such a good day...started out rough...fighting with the GPS...crossing the border went smoothly then we hit Toronto...at rush hour.  Not a huge problem until the GPS rerouted us through the city to avoid the traffic and the trailblazer started acting funny.  So we had to unhitch and take the car to Firestone...something is up with the transmission...could be minor, could be major, we won't know until morning.  We had a hard time finding a hotel because of the G20 conference, but we found one.  I guess if I look on the bright side...we stopped one block from a transmission shop but it is unsettling to be in a strange city...a bad part of the city....with your trailer and truck in 2 different places several miles away.

Then on top of that, we found out that a close friend that we rode motorcycles with in the Springs was killed today in a motorcycle accident on a bike trip to California.  She was a dear lady and she had 2 kids about Tiana's age and older.  Very sad...we were looking forward to riding with her when she got to Ottawa in a couple years.  On the bright side...she probably didn't know what hit her...that is good since bike accidents can be sooo tragic.  But I am sad that I can't pay my respects.

Man I could use some encouragement....we are so close to the new place and soo far away.  I know this is all part of God's plan and I know someday I will understand some great lesson that I learned today...maybe it is as simple as be thankful in everything....at least I can be thankful...Nancy can't!  :(  I think I will go with that.  Thank you Lord for everything...for the trip going well, for the border crossing going smoothly, for the opportunity to see family two days in a row...for the truck not breaking down in the middle of the highway....for the friendly Italian man in the neighborhood where we parked the trailer who is going to make sure noone touches it...for the one hotel room left with 2 beds and for whatever happens tomorrow.  Thank you Lord that I am able to be thankful and please help Nancy's family as they deal with this horrible tragedy.  Song of the day....I am going back to Let it Rain.

  1. Brenda,

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.' God has a way to turning things around for us, so keep the faith. Additionally, God says: I will give you rest ( Matthew 11:28-30), I know he will replenish you and give you the strength to see this adventure through to your final destination.

Thanks for taking the time to blog, I have enjoyed the postings.

  2. So was it your trailblazer that caused the earthquakes in Canada this morning...just kidding :)

    On a serious note:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. - Deuteronomy 31:6

I know that things are tough right now, but keep the faith; it will all work out in the end.

    Tell Tiana James says HI!
